Navel Piercing Rejection?
Filed under: enart.caishaofen.com | Saturday, July 4th, 2009 editI kept forgetting to clean it for a while, and so one day I looked at it and it had an angry red bump on the top of it, filled with pus. I decided that my best bet was to drain the pus and so I sterilized a sewing needle and Iced the bump till it was numb and I poked the bump with the needle. I honestly think it was the stupidest thing Ive ever done and you don't need to give me grief over it. Anyway, that was 2 weeks ago and I still have the scab. Every night, I've cleaned it with rock salt and it's still red, angry and scabby. But now I think it's being rejected because the bar is slightly longer than it was before and hangs a little bit looser. Im planning on using anti bacterial spray but I don't want it to hurt it more than help it. I really don't want to tell my mum until the scab is healed because when I got it done she made me swear I'd tell her if it looked infected. I didn't and now I'm in this mess. I really just want to know if anyone else thinks it's being rejected and if anyone thinks there's anything I can do. I really should tell my mum but every time I try, I cant. I really need advice because when the first one was rejected it was the most terrifying thing I've ever experienced.
Just go for simple sea salt soaks. Anything else probably isn't helping.
When you had it repierced, was it in front, behind or through the scar?
The bump was probably hypertrophic scarring, popping it wasn't the best idea. But you probably know that by now.
Cammomile compresses are probably your best bet.
Make a cup of herbal 100% cammomile tea. (just dump the teabag in hot water) Let it cool a bit til its warm, and put the teabag on your piercing, resoak when its dried out a bit, and repeat a couple of times. Once a day for 10 minutes or so. Should help draw out anymore pus and generally help clear up the rest of the bump and heal.
Taking photos a couple of times a week, can help you gauge wether it is rejecting. But be aware piercings often move around a bit, to a more comfortable spot before they settle down.

Im sure your mum would rather know now then later! :)
